Toronto FD saves the day!: As we were standing watching the commotion a big red bus (on left) pulls up and out jumps a couple of FF wearing the above shirt. We were both confused and curious. Why was the Toronto Fire Department here, and how did they get here so fast? According to a paramedic we know in Toronto, they probably had nothing better to do and were getting paid quadruple time to go on vacation.

It's turns out that it was something like that. As more of the workers took off their protective clothing it became obvious that they were all wearing TFD shirts. I asked one of them why. He informed me that it was a rebellious act as they were protesting against the city for wage and benefits increases. It turns out that our friend in Toronto is right in that the Toronto Fire Fighters are so well paid that they are jealously revered, here in Montreal anyway!
